Italian Alps - The Dolomites

I saw a beautiful photo of the St. Magdalena area within the Dolomites in Italy.    I have fond memories of  skiing during the 70's  in Cortina and Val d' Gardena.  I painted this painting from the photo but was never happy with the foreground.  So this summer my husband and I traveled to the St. Magdalena area where I could see the landscape in person.  We had quite a bit of stormy weather, true to the painting.  Upon returning stateside I reviewed my painting.  The mountains were nearly perfect.  They looked exactly like the painting but the foreground needed some work.  So I went to work refreshing the painting and am now very satisfied with this rendition of the beautiful and unique "Dolomiti" region.
